AAA Confirms GAO Ambulance Costs Report will be National in Scope
On August 27, the AAA sent the Government Accountability Office (GAO) a letter requesting written confirmation that their report on the costs of providing ambulance services will be national in scope. Later that day, the GAO provided a letter in response confirming that it would indeed be national in scope.
During the initial meeting on June 22 between the AAA and GAO, representatives of the AAA emphasized that the report needs to be national in scope and include ambulance service providers in all nine census regions. The AAA was concerned that the GAO would survey providers in only those states adversely affected by the fee schedule because that was the mandate under Section 414(a) of the Medicare Prescription Drug Act (MMA). At the meeting, the AAA received an oral assurance from the GAO that the report would be national in scope and include providers in every census region but now has that commitment in writing.
To access the AAA and GAO letters and for more information on the GAO
report, go to the “Reimbursement Issues” section of the AAA
website at www.the-aaa.org. We will
keep you posted on new developments with the report.

Leadership
& Retention - Interactive Audio Conference
Thursday,
September 16, 2004 - 11:30a.m. - 1:00p.m. EST
Are you concerned about leading your organization so that people not only want to stay but also go the extra mile to ensure success? While there are many specific reasons for people considering a move to another organization and then making a final decision to leave, an overriding factor is that of leadership practices. Building on research that explores concerns in organizations, this on-line session will give you a framework for leading your organization so that people stay, become strongly affiliated and move closer to their full potential.
The cost for the Interactive On-Line Audio Conference is $70 for AAA members and $109 for non-members.
The registration fee includes the interactive presentation and log-on information to participate in the toll-free interactive audio conference.
